Our society is making us obese

A new government report shows that if we improve the walkability of our streets we can also tackle obesity.

According to the report over half of the adult population will be obese by 2050 if we dont do something about it now.

Some of the problems highlighted are motorised transport and inactive lifestyles. It is clear that if we make our environment more walking friendly we can also help to tackle some of the causes of obesity.

The Walking Works Campaign can help to do this by:

  • Raising awareness of the clear health benefits of walking to work
  • Helping local authorities and organisations to take responsibility for their staff by encouraging them to walk to work.
  • Providing information on how to insire and support your staff to become more active.
